My daily battle buddy, 1995 Camry vs. 2019?2020 F250 FX4 crew cab 100% stock ride height and wheels.
The camera may not capture it well but the top of the bumper was in line with the top of my steering wheel.
Sce nario 2:
My LS460 (my wife’s car technically that gets driven maybe once every 2 weeks just down the street) VS another F250 but this one was a commercial work truck.
The LS is muuuuuch taller and larger than the old Camry but those trucks with factory ride height and factory wheels would slice me in 2 pieces in a head on crash lol

It’d be quick and painless though. How thoughtful of them.

Both stock, 2019 models, from the same brand. His greenhouse starts above where my roof ends.

I have a Cayman and a Miata. I'm lucky if their bumper is in line with my roof.

I’ve seen some trucks go for twice the cost of a new Mustang! It is kinda insane.

A im for his left front corner - your airbags will blow, may have some left leg injury, but you will pick him up on his side and turn him left a bit causing a nice cartwheel down the road, at least put him on his top.

That was my least favorite thing about driving my mom's Miata to school. Some trucks were lifted and taller that the damn car.

Nobody buys a truck just for running around town though, the big pickups you see out and about are being used for specific commercial purposes, that’s why they have that CAFE exception.

Hahahaha. I can assure you that there are plenty of big pickups that are bought just to drive around town. Sure there are some that are used commercially or for towing, but especially down in Texas there are tons of people who just buy the biggest pickup they can afford to use as the family sedan. Work parking lot in Houston was full of them.

Midsized are tall as well. ZR2 vs Dakota. The ZR2 is about as tall as a 1/2 ton 4wd . The Dakota hood is about rear bumper height on 3/4 4wd so it will totally submarine in an accident. Bumper height differential is why my wife strongly discourages me from having a car for my commute . Bro truck lifted 1/2 and 3/4 tons everywhere.

What really sucks is when they change lanes instead of braking for traffic, then I'm still moving at speed because I couldn't see around them and they didn't brake. It's like, "surprise! Full brake or you die"

My older brother is currently driving a Dakota of that generation. He’s self employed with a one man lawn car operation. His dakota needs to be replaced and he’s lamenting the fact that he can’t buy a truck as low as his 2wd Dakota.

It isn't that I don't want to live, it's just that I won't give in on a matter of principle. Cars are less destructive when they are stopped by impacts instead of going over said object.

I love trucks, but I hate how tall they've gotten.

Assuming they lock up the breaks before impact , that front ride hide will come down quite a bit. But head-ons are going to be ugly no matter what the other car is.

Does he want another Dakota? lol... If it sits any longer I’m going to he mi swap it for the hell of it.
I also am not okay with the bed height of current trucks. It’s crazy how tall the bedsides and bed floors are . The death of the current Frontier will be the end of easily accessible truck beds.

Greenhouses sure, but they’re not intended to take the impact. T
he bumpers are the same height.

Not really. They have under-bumper thingies sticking down from the frame. So, in a collision with a shorter vehicle, that part will smash the bloody hell out of your car and the crumple zones on both will do their thing.
That’s assuming stock height. Once it’s bro’d out with a 6in lift and 37s, then it’s at the perfect height for some good clean decapitations .

All you have to do is be low enough to see under their trucks.

Looks to me like the under-ride bar on the work truck lines up with the bumper on the LS
